Digitizing Books, Manuscripts and Newspapers
Brechin Imaging Services digitizes various bound or unbound books, publications, manuscripts, letters, newspapers and other
paper materials for archiving or public access. We scan to exactly standards on safe equipment that produces low noise and
high-dynamic range.
We have experience handling fragile papers to ensure their safety while scanning or digitizing. Exact technical requirements
are usually determined on a project by project basis typically following industry best practice imaging standards unless otherwise
requested. We can tailor our service to suit your requirements.
Digitized page files will be stored on the media of your choice. Our digital conversion
service for archiving and image preservation includes creating master tiffs with careful, accurate colour / density
balancing using QC targets within the original film or targets placed on the scanner for prints at time of scanning.
Derivative images as well as post-scan image processing can be
created to your specifications. In addition, we provide the associated
technical metatada for image preservation requirements when requested.
Brechin has scanned book and document collections for some of the most discriminating clients. We are happy to provide you with
a few samples of our work. Please contact us for a price quote and to discuss your digitization
requirements.
