In addition to archival scanning of books and papers, Brechin Imaging Serivces also scans various other non-archival
document types for libraries and organizations using automatic document feed scanners and manual flatbed scanner. Services
include scanning magazines, loose cut sheets, bound or unbound publications, documents and other paper projects. Resultant
image files may be bitonal, greyscale or colour but typically will be compressed files either tiff or jpeg.
We also provide cropping, cleanup and image image processing on the scans prior to PDF conversion to improve appearance
if and when necessary. Scanned files are ususally converted to PDF for text-searchable access. Using the
CVision PDFCompressor product we can greatly decrease file size for distribution
over the web or intranet networks. The OCR engine in PDF Compressor produces PDFs of a higher OCR accuracy than PDFs
captured by Adobe Capture.
In addition, we offer a service to insert bookmark and table of contents links into PDF files to increase the content
accessibility of the document.
