Post-Scan Services: Image Processing, Metadata & Cataloguing
Brechin digitizes high quality images to specific client requests. For general use, those files may be sufficient for
customers who wishes to create their own smaller images or use as is. However, digitization projects for archiving require
more options. Brechin will digitize to client specifications for master tiff images and then produce adjusted derivative
images as required. These can be access jpegs, gifs, adjusted tiffs, PDF image or compressed text-searchable PDFs.
Adjustments include brightness and contrast adjustments, sharpening and resizing as well as
any specific requests.
Old family photographs can be scanned and adjusted to restore faded colour balance as well as marks, scratches and other
degradations repaired. Work will be quoted on a per job basis.
Once archival materials are digitized, it is very important for on-going image preservation and access
to have a record not only of descriptive and structural metadata but also specifically the technical metadata that
is associated with the digital capture conversion process. Brechin provides technical metadata in excel or text files
that relate to the project including: scanning / capture device, software, PC and OS, colour space, and a host of other
critical data.
Brechin can help you optimize access to your photo collection, manage your resources and provide improved access. We can
deliver an efficient, affordable solution without disrupting your workflow and allowing you to use your limited staff
resources for higher priority tasks.
